The EDUFUSION team successfully held the NSG International Workshop on “Curriculum Development for Training Programs” at the University of Vigo, Spain, from 22 to 24 July 2025. The event brought together partners from Spain, Portugal, and Kazakhstan to jointly explore key aspects of educational innovation and curriculum reform in engineering education.

📈 On the opening day, the project team shared the results of the Needs Analysis previously conducted under Work Package 3 – TDSS Educator Training and Certification. This study, presented by ENTER, identified 20 core competence gaps among engineering educators from partner universities in Kazakhstan, including innovative pedagogy, psychopedagogy and communication, problem-solving, global thinking, and professional ethics and social responsibility.

🎓 During the following sessions, partners collaborated in co-designing targeted training modules to bridge these gaps. The University of Vigo facilitated activities on curriculum co-creation, introducing Design Thinking and the Canva methodology as drivers of curriculum innovation. Experts presented innovative pedagogies and modern methodologies in STEAM and entrepreneurship education, covering approaches such as flipped classrooms, problem-based learning, and experiential learning. A particular emphasis was given to digital pedagogy, with discussions on Metaverse applications, AI integration, and NeuroRights in education.

🤝 The expert from Ronsel Foundation guided an interactive Design Thinking workshop, where participants prototyped curriculum components and used Canva-based collaborative tools to visualise Professional Development Program (PDP) structures. ENTER contributed by presenting international frameworks and quality standards for professional development in Higher Education, and by facilitating a comparative mapping exercise to analyse the current state of PDPs in Kazakhstan.

✅ The workshop concluded with a Final Validation Panel, where participants presented proposed modules and received expert feedback. The closing remarks by the University of Vigo, ISEP, the Ronsel Foundation, and ENTER highlighted the collaborative spirit and the significant progress made. A networking activity further strengthened cooperation among project partners.

🔎 Stay tuned for more updates from the EDUFUSION Project as we continue to co-create innovative solutions for capacity building in engineering education.
